Smoking Pot Reduces (Yes, Reduces) Creativity.

Ever since The Beatles' Rubber Soul album in the mid-sixties, the conventional wisdom told us that pot increases our creativity. It's mind expanding, man!

But according to recent research reported in Science Daily from Mikael Kowal, exactly the opposite is true. He conducted a study with 40 regular cannabis users and a control group of 20 non-users given a placebo. The cannabis users were less able to brainstorm new ideas AND were less likely to recognize their own mistakes.

Has something to do with dopamine, an important brain chemical when it comes to clear thinking, learning and creativity. Cannabis reduces dopamine levels in the brain, thereby stunting creativity.

Imagine how great The Beatles would have been had they not let Dr. Robert (Bob Dylan) influence their dopamine by introducing them to pot.
