It's the 50th anniversary of The Beatles legendary "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" album, so let's take some creative inspiration, shall we?

One truth about creativity I've covered here before is that creating "psychological distance" can make us more creative. Meaning, imagining yourself in another place or in another time can help you come up with breakthrough ideas.

It's a fascinating insight into human nature. But it's also exactly what Paul McCartney did by creating this fictitious Sgt. Pepper "band." It liberated the Beatles to come up with songs that "that band" would do, and not what "The Beatles" would do.
